For many years, I built a life around work, family and responsibility, and somewhere in the busyness of adulthood and the corporate world, I became disconnected from parts of myself that once felt very natural to me.

Then I lost my parents.
Grief has a way of making you look again at who you are, where you come from, and the pieces of yourself you may have quietly put away.
On the day of their memorial, I put on a boubou again and something shifted.

I felt beautiful. I felt comfortable. I felt grounded. I felt like myself again. And even in my grief, I walked a little taller and smiled a little brighter.

That feeling stayed with me, and it became part of the reason AFRISIYA exists.

I wanted to create clothing that gives women that same feeling of beauty, comfort and confidence - of being completely themselves, no matter the season of life they’re in.

I wanted to create pieces that are bold without trying too hard, elegant without being uncomfortable, and beautiful enough to make you stand a little taller when you walk into a room.
